Can a Panel-Ready Viking Dishwasher Come Out Without Damaging the Panel?
Short answer
Yes, as long as the opening was built with service in mind. A panel-ready Viking dishwasher is held by brackets or screws at the top of its tub and stands on levelling legs; the panel holds nothing. Two things hold it, and neither is the panel
The mounting brackets tie the top of the tub to the counter or to the cabinet sides, and the levelling legs press it up against them. On the VDWU524 the front legs turn with the adjusting wrench and the rear legs with a screwdriver, which is why the toe kick has to come off first.
What makes it slower
Flooring laid in front of the unit after the install: the new floor sits higher than the one under the legs, so the machine must rise to come out, and the counter stops it. An adhesive-fixed toe kick is next.
Tell your contractor
- Keep the toe kick removable: screws or clips, never adhesive, and no tile or baseboard run across its face.
- Run new flooring under the dishwasher opening too. Laid only up to the unit, it leaves the machine standing lower than the floor in front of it, trapped under the counter.
- Leave slack in the water line and the power cord so the machine can come forward without anything being disconnected.
When to call
Ring before the visit if the toe kick is tiled in, the floor was raised after the dishwasher went in, or the door has been forced. Each of those changes what we bring and how long it takes.
